Title: Who have you met?
Description: From Star Trek

AdmiralGummy - April 29, 2007 01:09 AM (GMT)
I haven't met anyone from Trek.
But as many of you that have gone to the conventions, you must have great stories to tell about the Trek Stars that you've met.
Please share some with us.

I know people that have been to the conventions. They have nothing good to say about Shatner. They said he was rude to the staffers and just ok to the fans that lined up to get his autograph.

apparantly the hot chocolate went without incident.

It was nice to go to conventions several years ago & not have to pay for autographs. My how times have changed. That's one reason why I don't go to them anymore.

At conventions I've met:

William Shatner
Leonard Nimoy
George Takei (and his boyfriend)
Kate Mulgrew
Avery Brooks
Robert Picardo
The guy who plays Gul Dukat
some dudes from Enterprise

They were all realy nice in person. Takei had some people with him from the Howard Stern show and they spent a lot of the con making fun of everyone.
At that con we had to wait to check in so I was looking at stuff in the dealers room while my husband went online to wait to check into the hotel. After a few minutes I join him on line, while I'm walking over to him he's waving franticaly and pointing to someone in front of him. Standing in front of him was ROBERT PICARDO, standing in the same line waiting to check into the same hotel. He was nice about it, he posed for a few pitures, and shook some people's hands.

At that convention I was most impressed by George. He actualy took time to talk to people at the autograph lines (it moved very slowly because of it though). And he came to the desert party too, he go into conversations and wouldn't get up when he was told until he finished the conversation. He was realy nice.

I actualy had a chance to meet Robert Picardo in a non-Trek event. He was doing a musical nearby and we got tickets to see it. After it was over we hung around hoping he would come out. One of the users told us the actors dont come out so we started to head out but stopped when we noticed a group of people standing around talking. We asked them if they were waiting for someone and one of them says "Oh i'm just waiting for my old friend Robert Picardo" so after we regained the ability to speak again we todl them we were trekkies and huge fans and if the ywouldn't mind if we waited with them. Well after a little while Robert Picardo comes out and we step back so he can talk to his friends and when he noticed us standing there we told him we were trekkies. He was realy nice too, he signed my Hologram's handbook. One of the women there had a camera phone and wanted to take a picture of him and didn't know how to work it, so he says "give it to the trekkies they're usualy good with that stuff"....he could have just as easily told us to go away or ignored us, but he stopped what he was doing and talked to us, and signe and autograph for us, not many people would do that.
