The new season of 24 kicked off lastnight with a bang. Suicide bombings happening all over the country. Jack has been given back to the US through a harsh deal with the Chinese who've been interrogating and torturing poor Jack for the past 2 years. Jack is a changed man.

He was kidnapped by the Chinese government at the end of last season. THis season, a terrorist in America told the US government that he would give the location of the terrorist leader in exchange for Jack Bauer (because Jack tortured his brother a long time ago). So the US made a deal with China for the release of Jack. That was a few days before the season starts. It starts pretty much with Jack getting off the plane and his custody getting exchanged fron Chinese authorities to US.

Watched the Tivo'd ep last night. Didn't think I could get hooked in one ep but Kai was right ............. I did. Damn good show! The brother is a bastard, that's for sure. And yes, I bet the nephew is Jack's son.

Ok, so the brother is the super baddie...we all knew that from last season. But it's an interesting twist to find that Jack's dad wasn't in on it. Very cool

I guess we won't see Bashir or Buchanan's wife again for a few episodes (it takes a few hours to fly between LA and DC).

Nothing good from Chloe yet this season...I'm still waiting. And I'm still waiting for Audrey to show up.


Oh, and that's not Jack's son. It can't be. He's younger than Kim Bauer...so that would mean that Jack banged his brother's wife while Jack was already married to Kim's mom. The relationship hasn't been presented that way. They said that Jack used to date brother's wife before they were married.

I caught in the recap as well, Jack's brother may have responsible for jack's imprisonment in china. He said on the phone to the butler " we should have killed him when we had the chance instead of sending him to china"

And he said he hadn't seen his father in 9 years but saw his brother at his wife's funeral. Anyone keeping track of the time between seasons? how long ago did his wife die in their time?

9 years sounds about right as far as season one to season 6 goes. There were two years that Jack's been in China. He was PRESUMED dead prior to season 5 for 18 months. That's already 3 1/2 years. Prior to seaon four, Palmer was no longer president. So we can assume that a four year term elapsed between the end of Season 1 (when Palmer was running for President) and the end of season 3 (when Palmer was blackmailed by his would-be opponent in the next Presidential election).

Not sure, but he did. He was the behind the scenes mastermind from last season that we never knew much about. It wasn't till this season that we found out that weird guy who was ordering around President Logan and Robocop last year was actually Jack's brother. They just showed him a few times on the phone and never really explained anything about him except that he was obviously the one pulling the strings....kinda like Future Guy from Enterprise.
