Title: Mobile emitter
Description: should they have kept it?
Guinan - January 9, 2007 03:09 AM (GMT)
it was future tech and they where never supposed to have it. it would have been a violation of the temporal prime directive. simply having it would have altered the timeline. for example a crew member is on a planet and they get mortally wounded the Doctor can beam down and save him but what if he was supposed to die.

i think its a good thing that they kept it... firstly it was sort of forced upon the docter, so it was under there cercumstances that the voyager crew came into contact with it, and also it was liberating and i am glad the docter could finally have something like that. so i think yes, its good they kept it

it was a great idea for the show. and I definately prefer that they kept it. but maybe from a logical standpoint they shouldn't have.

I think it was in violation of some rules, but the writers needed a way for the doctor to participate more in the episodes, instead of being confined to sickbay and the holodeck.

yes but I think it goes back to City On the Edge of Forever, Edith Keeler had to die, what if all the people saved by the doctors mobility also had to die.

Then the future Star Fleet would have come back to repair the damage. I guess we're supposed to assume that Voyager was supposed to have the mobile emitter. :D

I think they were supposed to have the Mobile Emitter. Or the Temporal Police would have gone back in time to confiscate it.

Without the Emitter No future Borg and Seven would never know the joys of Motherhood :D

Don't remember, but I think it's the one where they got to the 90s when the time shuttle person tries to destroy them then they create a quantum paradox because they stupidly have it be that all computer technology was invented from this time travellers ship, he happens to have a holographic mobile emitter, and the corrupt business person who found the ship and reverse engineered technology as we know it from it tries to get the Doctor to help him get more future tech goodies from Voyager (and to stop them from foiling him)
so when they do Foil him, Voyager (I think "accidently") winds up with the Emitter in the end allowing the doctor to leave sickbay now
it's a 2 parter
