Title: Trouble with Tribbles Remastered
Description: Butchered, is more like it....

My patience with the remastering process has just run out.

They BUTCHERED the Trouble with Tribbles. The took out much of the dialog that was plot relevent, to stick in a few extra FX shots, and what was the point, really?

For instance, the scene in the Office, where there is interplay between Kirk and Koloth was shortened. Also the parts in the bar, where Cyrano Jones discovers that Tribbles don't like Klingons. (Which makes the climatic scene make less sense.)

Simply awful. There aren't enough bad words in teh English langauge to express my disdain.

I am wondering if the Fans of Trek can sue Paramount for custody of the Franchise. They are like someone who whores out their daughter for crack.

I saw it this morning, via DVR. The cgi shots were unimpressive. I expected more. The only way i could tell they changed it was in the warp sequence, when the ship didnt look stationary, and the close-ups.

I wouldn't blame the cut scenes on the cgi, though, Fox could have cut those to save time. Spike does it all the time for TNG and DS9.

thats aweful! how dare the butcher one of the most classics of trek!

Still, Ds9 also when they went back to the TOS universe, changed the animation of the ships and things so they didnt really need to try and show off did they?

i havent seen a single re-mastered one yet, but by the way they are sounding overall, its not a good thing im guessing? what a shame.

The problem is that they are reediting them to make more room for commercials, and in the process, they are making the episodes less coherent.

In this last one, in Mirror Mirror, they cut out the whole end part where Spock, Kirk and McCoy are comparing their alternate universe counterparts, and just skipped right to the part where Kirk meets Marlena in our universe.

There was also this bizarre moment where the ISS Enterprise is warping through space for no good reason, even though all the dialog indicated they were still around the Hulken homeworld.

The thing about edits is that these episodes were ALREADY edited when they were first put into Syndication back in the 1970's. They didn't need to be edited again. Do we really need to see the Enzyte Commercial four times in one hour? (I know I don't.)

Yeah, I noticed that too. For a moment I just thought it was one of those half-second clips they show in the middle of commercial breaks to let everyone know that they're still watching Star Trek, but the commercials never returned.

I liked seeing the Enterprise through the station's windows. That was a nice touch. This was the first remastered episode I've seen. I was unimpressed by the close-up ship shots though. I thought that the ship was supposed to look as good as the Defiant did on ENTERPRISE. But it didn't. The ship looked sorta cartoony.

I did like that the WHOOOOSH sound was taken out of the opening credits though.

I was kinda hoping to see Bashir and O'Brian in the bar fight.

I noticed on my DVDs that the TOS episodes run about 4 to 6 minutes longer than the other series' episodes. So commercial time standards were probably different in the 60s and 70s.

Because there is so much more competition now, they have to allow more commercial time because they are selling it so much cheaper. They've also taken out end credits on most shows on the networks so they have more room for commercials. (FOr instance, I didn't even know BoobyPrize had a end-credit music until it went into syndication.)
