Title: Star Trek: Encounters

TiberiusK - October 14, 2006 12:31 AM (GMT)
I bought this new game today. It's only $20! and it rocks.

So far, I'm still on Ent era which sucks, and Shatner's narration sounds like he is bored.

But overall cool game.

It's really cool so far. I'm on a mission to track down the xindi warp signature to locate the superweapon right now.

I wish it had more character voices, even if just ripped from the shows.

It's pretty fun so far, definitely worth the EB games price of $19.99. I was blown away by the price and it's a pretty awesome game.

fleshandblood - October 14, 2006 06:50 AM (GMT)
oh! is it out yet then? i didnt actually hear anything at all about encounters, what platform is it on?

looking at the site actually it seems somewhat like legacy so what is it? im so confused, i thought there was only going to be tactical assalt and legacy!

Jesus, if prices are allready that low it cant be doing very well worldwide atm... then again the ammount of advertising for that particullar game is dismal, i didnt hear about it until today, now i have actually gone looking for things about it i know about it, and want it! but its been really badly publicised which wont help... still the cheeper the better in some ways :p

Honestly, I think this game was more a test run for Bethesda for Star Trek:Legacy.

It's priced to sell, and it's definitely worth the price.

So far, it's really fun. I wish that they had included more character voices. It wouldn't have been hard to insert wavs of picard saying "fire" or Riker "Shields Up, Red Alert!"

Trekwolf164 - October 15, 2006 11:16 AM (GMT)
I'm sorry the price at Wallmart for PS2 Star trek Encounters was $14.88. I have not gotten through Enterprise yet.

I was in walmart this morning and saw it for $14.66. I didn't get it. :( I will next weekend thought!

Coolg - October 15, 2006 11:10 PM (GMT)
I got it from eb yesterday for 20 bucks. Its really good. So far, I have gotten halfway through the TNG era.

I had heard of this game from the Bethesda website and i was a little worried about it. I figured that ut was just something to throw on the PS2, and maybe it was, but it turned out to be pretty good. The skirmish levels are cool too.

AdmiralGummy - October 16, 2006 03:09 PM (GMT)
Why is it that they only released this just for game systems that I don't have?
I don't have PSP or the other one. I only have PS2 and I wanted to play it. :angry2:

Coolg - October 16, 2006 08:31 PM (GMT)
Encounters is for the PS2.

datafan10 - October 16, 2006 08:38 PM (GMT)
i think i'm walking to gamestop, and getting this game. :D

Um, the one coming out for PSP and DS is Tactical Assualt. Encounters is on the PS2.

fleshandblood - October 17, 2006 01:59 PM (GMT)
i get paid today, then its off to the shops... however this is of course if they have bothered releasing it in the UK yet. Shattered universe didnt do too well here so i dunno if it will be here yet or at all. its about time my PS2 got a new game though, its been getting a little dusty recently.

WishfireOmega - October 18, 2006 12:56 AM (GMT)
Shattered Universe didn't do well here, either.

fleshandblood - October 18, 2006 04:54 PM (GMT)
its a shame, i liked it, its just it would have been better to have a few other options like a multiplayer or skermish options.

witbee - October 30, 2006 06:42 PM (GMT)
Bought it last week and played it Sunday. I really like the game, but I don't like the gamepad on the PS2. I wish they had released in on PC.

Still a cool game.

Well, me being a biased Xbox fan, let me enlighten you, lol. Encounters, from what I could gather, is essentially a dumbed down Legacy. Originally called Star Trek: Battlestations, Encounters was Playstations response to Star Trek: Legacy, which will use superior graphics, voices recorded by all five captains just for this game, online play and alot of other really cool stuff.
I bought my 360 for the soul purpose of Legacy, and boy am I glad that I did, because I just got Gears of War, and damn, that's an awesome game. Anyway, you can rest assured that Legacy will blow this game out of the water. Sorry Tiberious, not trying to rain on your parade, dude. :afro:

TourqeGlare - January 22, 2007 02:22 PM (GMT)
I just got it today.
Im still in the ENT era tracking the warp signature
(WTF is a Xindi anyway?) and I only have to say this about it.

Asteroids the arcade game, and Star Trek get
together and have a baby nerd. :)

The only bad parts are that I have heard that
it is repetitive, and that its a blue bottom disk.
My PS2 ( SCHP 30001R ) refuses to play blue
bottom disks unless I take it apart and screw with that wheel...

Damn, I need a new one...

Fun game though. :)

Trekwolf164 - January 22, 2007 10:24 PM (GMT)
I saw it on sale in the sunday papers for under $10.00

fleshandblood - January 23, 2007 12:30 AM (GMT)
well, i have seen it in shops, its in the top 10 games, at the moment. However its also very expensive. i hope i can still get it once it falls in price. i really want it!
also, i dont think legacy will work on my PC so i am not getting that yet

Coolg - January 23, 2007 05:38 PM (GMT)
I have heard that Legacy for the PC fucks up alot, but the xbox 360 version is supposed to be great.

I have Encounters for PS2 and I was not disappointed.

I got this game for Christmas and I really suck at it because I can't get past the first little tutorial thing when you have to get through the 40 circles in 2 minutes. :frust:

next time.

Though this game was really designed as a teaser for Legacy, for 15 bucks I got it. I like the different Romulan ship designs, especially the "defender", which looks like an actual hawk. My only complaint is that disruptors and pulse cannon phasers don't lock onto the target. But other than that, it's definately worth 15 bucks to kick some ass in a Constitution refit!

They're better suited for close-range multi-target combat. If they're a butt-load of enemies surrounding you trying to kick your ass, just spin and shoot, and chances are you'll be dong some damage.

ARGHH!!! I hate the first episode with Voyager! Stupid Kazon ship getting in my way.
